Remembering Gerald Wilson

I really didn’t know Gerald Wilson well. I did know his kindness. This articulate giant passed away after 96 years of living the most agreeably full  life one could imagine.

Gerald’s pleasant demeanor proceeded him into any space he entered. William Yardley wrote about Gerald in today’s New York Times. I would like to quote Loren Schoenberg, a saxophonist and fellow composer from his article. ” Even if you were chronologically decades or maybe generations younger than Gerald, you always felt he was the youngest person in the room”  Here are some photos I have taken of Gerald with some other remarkable people. Detroit was always important to Gerald and Detroit will miss him.
